Director - Arshia Prajapati

Hey everyone! My name is Arshia Prajapati and I’m the director of the Not Your Body Documentary. This film is important to me because I grew up with a negative body image. When the body positivity movement first came about, I was thrilled to have found a supportive community where I can grow to accept and love myself. However, with time and the influence of social media the movement became toxic and there become this pressure on me to love my body, even during days where I did not feel the best. I then learned about Body neutrality as a movement which focuses on viewing our body as a function rather than being fixated on how our bodies look. With this film I hope to bring attention to the idea of taking away attention from your body’s visuals and reassure individuals that healing takes time but is possible and that one should not feel pressured.

Cinematographer - Alexandra Hofman

Producer - Kate Slama

Assistant Editor - Jasmine McLaughlin

Hiii, my name is Alexandra Hofman and I am the Director of Photography. I was drawn to working on this project as I wanted to colloborate with the Director to create her vision; showcasing the different bodies, shapes, and sizes that are so vastly different among society. Highlighting that what you see on Instagram or other social media platforms as the pinnacle of beauty standards is not what we as human beings are. We are all different and beautiful in our own ways, and we all share different struggles to be at peace with our bodies.
Hi, I’m Kate! I’m the producer for the short documentary Not your Body! I’m so incredibly excited to be working on this documentary with this amazing crew. I’ve had quite the journey with my relationship with my body so this concept is something I’m really passionate about. I can’t wait for us to share more!
Hey! I’m Jasmine and I’m the assistant editor on Not Your Body. I am so happy to be part of this amazing crew. My journey with loving my body has been quite a wild ride. In 2020 I was diagnosed with an eating disorder, and I still struggle to this day. Although I’m a little bit more at peace with it, I am not recovered. This is an ongoing journey for me and I’m grateful to share my story. xo!

Production Design - Mill Quintero

Transmedia - Cheri Greenidge

Composer - Dani Meisner

My name is Mill and I am the Production Designer for Not your Body. This documentary is meaningful to me as it fights the stigma and toxicity of the body positivity movement by countering it with the concept of body neutrality. Working on this doc has educated me further in this concept and has helped me regain hope in having a comfortable relationship with my body. I am proud to be working with such talented people to push forward a message that will help many in their own personal journeys of acceptance. Can't wait to share with everyone all the amazing work we’ve been putting into this doc!
Hey, my name is Cheri and I am head of social media for Not Your Body. It has been such a privilege working on this documentary and learning about issues that I think should be more talked about in mainstream media. I hope you enjoy this film just as much fun as we had making it!
Heyy I'm Dani. I'm the composer and sound mixer on Not your Body! After talks with the director I was inspired to work on this doc and contribute to the important message it brings. In my life I've always felt pressure to feel a certain level of love toward my body, a feeling that has brought about shame and feelings of inadequacy when I don't feel that love. I'm so proud to be able to contribute to telling the important stories of how the pressure of body positivity has affected people. I'm also very proud to be working with such an incredible talented team, I look forward to bringing this story to life with sound!

1st Assistant Camera - Tiana Moretti

Editor - Jae Higgins

Location Sound - Erik Knuff

Hi! I’m Ti and I’m the first AC for Not Your Body! Originally I was supposed to just be a subject but after watching this amazing crew in action I had to jump on board. I’m so grateful to be apart of this film as the message hits home for me, I’ve struggled with body dysmorphia for years and it was amazing to have a safe space to share some of my story. I hope you enjoy and I can’t wait for everyone to see not your body come to life.
My name is Jae. I am the editor of Not Your Body. I wanted to edit this film because I wanted the opportunity to criticize the annoying cis white women who make the body positivity movement about them and patronize to men, trans women, and people of colour about how they should "just be happy with your body, eat whatever you want, you go girl". I think the exploration of body neutrality is important and I also think pretty colours and people posing is cool and fun and good.
Hey I’m Erik and I was the location sound recordist and one of the subjects of the doc. I think we’ve got a really good message to send to people that most people would be able to identify with. I hope you guys enjoy hearing my thoughts as one of the guests and I also hope you take something positive away from this doc!
